About me

My name is Lorenzo Zoppolato and I was born in Udine, Italy.

2014: 

• I obtained a scholarship for a master in photography and visual design at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti school in Milan. 

2015: 

• I showcased my work in SpazioForma in Milan, as part of the project ‘Expoland’ in which I analysed and investigated the nature of Expo Milano 2015.  

• Second prize at the “ Fiaf Portfolio Italia” finals.

• First prize in the international competition “Black&White photographer of the year” as part of the “Emerging Talent category”.

• The LensCulture international jury has selected my project as Finalist for the LensCulture Street Photography Awards 2015.

2016:

•  I presented my personal exhibition “Whispers reflected”at the Tina Modotti Gallery in Udine and I took part in the collective show entitled “Animals” at the MACRO museum in Rome.

2017:

• Fujifilm invite me as guest speaker in the X-Vision Tour

• I won Ernesto’s Bazan ” 2017 Scholarship Fund for Young Photographers”.

2018:

• Guest Trieste Photo Days Festival

• First prize at the “ Portfolio Italia” finals

2019:

• I Won the first prize for the best portfolio at the IMP Festival - International Month of Photojournalism.

• Finalist Italy Photo Award 2019 - Premio Voglino

2020:

• I won the first prize at Italian Street PhotoFestival in Rome as part of the “Storytelling award”.

• I Won the first prize for the best portfolio at Savignano SiFest photo Festival

2021:

• Book “ Le immagini di Morel” ( Emuse Books ) - with preface by Ferdinando Scianna

• Special Mention - Urbanautica Institute Award 2021.

• Representations of Space, Architecture, and Conflicts.

2023:

• LensCulture "Juror's Pick" - Art Photography Awards international competition

• The FIAF awards him the honour of “Emerito della fotografia Italiana “ for his photographic achievements.

• Special Mention - Urbanautica Institute Award 2022

• First prize Langhe Photofestival Award

• Prize C.R.A.F. 2023 ( Photography Research and Archive Centre )

2024:

Exhibition “Between Black and White” at Lab27 in Treviso, curated by Steve Bisson. The exhibition, which also included works by Pablo Piovano and Giorgio Negro, explored authorial perspectives on the Global South through themes of poetry, resistance, and identity

2025:

• The unfair thing in biographies is that people usually speak exclusively of their successes, without mentioning all the difficulties and the failures which are necessary to achieve them. To each aforementioned achievement corresponds a number of closed doors and a good amount of tears. This is just as important to mention.
